Jags again sweep Canes; Boys earn No. 3 seed
Ridgeland's boys and girls basketball teams each defeated rival Hardeeville Wednesday night. The boys won 67-49 for their eighth consecutive triumph over the Hurricanes, including an 80-67 win in January. Ridgeland's Tyron Mikell scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half.
"Anytime you get a region win it's good for us," he said.
The Jaguars (14-10, 10-4 Region 5-A) will compete in the SCHSL Class A playoffs next week. They defeated Whale Branch on Friday to earn the No. 3 seed. Ridgeland will begin the playoffs Tuesday at Baptist Hill.
Ridgeland's girls defeated Hardeeville 53-24 for their second win over Hardeeville this season and fifth consecutive overall.
April Jenkins led Ridgeland with 13 points and NyJae Boozer had 15 rebounds. Ridgeland (19-4, 14-0) will host a first-round playoff game Monday against an opponent to be determined.
