Wow! Recent articles about the school have certainly been candid to say the least.
Interesting enough, we have heard about disengaged teachers and failing test scores. The messages are apparent: we are failing our children. Or is this the message at all? I raise the point not to cause havoc. On the contrary, it's an appeal to the children. Who has taken the time to get their feedback? What's their perspective of everything that has been spoken concerning them and their future?
Sure we are the adults, but it doesn't yet appear that we have the correct answers to solve the most critical problems. Enough already. Certainly someone somewhere in Jasper County has the integrity, rapport and wisdom to bring about clarity. Clarity that leads to changes which results in positive progression.
And let me assure you, it will take time. It took time to get where we are now, it will also take time to get where we need to be.
So where should we begin. I'd like to take a poll or survey from the persons of greatest impact - our children. What is really on their minds? What is their reaction to all of the press concerning the state of schools in Jasper County? If they were in administration what is the first thing that they would change?
Are the teachers really good or not? How do they view their principals? What does it mean to be well educated? Will it guarantee success in life? Do they really have a clue or not?
Inquiring minds want to know. Do you?
