Are you ready for Valentine's Day? So, what will it be? Chocolates, flowers, or maybe a cuddly oversized stuffed animal.
Will the real prosumers please stand up? Prosumers are professional and progressive consumers. According to Wikipedia, "The prosumer is searching for the highest quality product that best meets their personal needs for the maximum amount of money they are willing to spend." Key word here is needs not wants. In other words, they make the best use of every dollar.
Are you a person who needs instant gratification? Do you have regular impulse spending habits? Do you compare prices or research products at various merchants? Prosumers do.
Many people often find themselves in the overwhelming expectation of others. Unfortunately, this can lead to a false sense of self. And it almost always leads to constant role playing which becomes habitual. As with everything, you have a choice. You can choose to continue the cycle of pretense or choose to be free. Free means not having to live up to the expectation of others. It means having a strategic plan for your own life. It means setting goals and taking as many baby steps as you need to accomplish them. It means being true with yourself and forsaking the opinions of others. It means getting understanding and using wisdom.
I hope by now you realize this is not about whether you really buy chocolates for Valentine's Day or not. My objective here is to encourage you to quit the rat race of approval addiction. The truth is, year after year, millions of people spend millions of dollars and obligate themselves unnecessarily. The first step is acknowledgment of one's own actions. Despite your job title, position, social economic status, or lack thereof; live your lives honestly.
Putting on a show often leaves you feeling low. Why not take off the mask and let other people's ego of you go.
