Last week's column resulted in the reflection of my first letter to the editor.
My premise was the well being of our children's education then and it remains the same today. Most excitingly, it gives me great pleasure to report that the teachers of Jasper County share in the spirit of resolution and enthusiasm.
As a result, the following declaration is being submitted on their behalf. It demonstrates one direction, one agenda, and one purpose. Yes, we can!

I feel that knowledge is the key.
To survive in this society.
When I learn I feel profound,
As if no one could hold me down.
They say I can't, but I know I can
Be successful as any man.
If I study and work real hard,
And put my hope and trust in God.
I am a winner, a loser I'm not
Because I give each task, everything I've got.
I shall, I must, I can, I will,
Conquer mountains, and climb each hill.
Nothing will stop me, nothing I say!
From being Mayor or President some day.
I will succeed take it from me,
Because I'll have knowledge and it's my key.

And that's the right kind of declaration.
Well said, well said indeed.
