Romie Dale Self, 92, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his home in Hardeeville, SC.
He was born April 23, 1917 in Caser, NC to the late Romie Ruffin Self and Hazel Carter Self.
He was a retired welder; charter member of Hardeeville Church of God where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and he was a US Navy Veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline Benton Self of Hardeeville; four sons, Don E. (Fern) Self and Daniel P. (Susan) Self, all of Hardeeville; Leonard A. (Penny) Self of Hendersonville, NC; Harvey D. Self of Palmetto, GA; one daughter, Sherry Floyd (Ronnie) Grant of Clinton; one brother, Ernest "Jim" Self of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Deland, Sonya, Donnie, Jeremy, Kimberly, Steven, Tiffanee and Tyler and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Self and sisters, Willie Loe Hamrick and Reba Cross.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 22, at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 310 W. Adams Ave., Ridgeland, with burial in Purrysburg Cemetery in Hardeeville
