Evelyn Duke Bland
LEXINGTON - Evelyn Duke Bland, 88, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Lexington Medical Center after a brief illness
Mrs. Bland was born on January 2, 1923. She was a daughter of the late Grady Jackson and Inez Martha McDonald Duke. Mrs. Bland was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a retired beautician. She also worked at Kinard's Jewelry Store in Hampton, SC for many years after her retirement.
Surviving are her sons, Jack (Patsy) Bland of Lebanon, IN, Danny (Bobby) Bland of Lexington and Randy (Patty) Bland of Gilbert; brothers, W.B. "Bo" (Dorothy) Duke of Evans, GA, Billy (Audrey) Duke of Pooler, GA,, Darrell (Lorraine) Duke of Pelion and Austin (Betty) Duke of Jackson, MI; sisters-in-law, Lois and Ruth Duke; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Bland; brother, Myron, Milton and Ferrell Duke and her sister, DeeBee Lastinger.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Barr Road with interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Barr Road, Lexington, SC 29072.
Caughman-Harman Funeral, Lexington Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
