Zachary Holland, 28, of Hilton Head was hit and killed by a Palmetto Breeze bus while walking on S.C. 462 in Jasper County Wednesday morning, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
At 6:30 a.m. a bus with 14 passengers attempted to pass a car on S.C. 462 and struck Holland in the road.

The driver of the 2006 MCI bus, Nellie Jackson, 56, of Varnville, is listed as having
seven years of experience with the company as a driver.  Jackson was treated and released from
Coastal Carolina Hospital.

The bus passengers were not injured, according to Cpl. Bob Beres.

The accident remains under investigation.
