Ridgeland, SC Weather |
Three young men were shot early Saturday morning at the Bluffton Eagles' baseball stadium off Buck Island Road. One of the victims remains in critical condition.
According to the Bluffton Police Department, the shooting happened at about 2:15 a.m. at 157 Buck Island Road. Callers had heard gunshots. Responding officers found three teenagers had been wounded.
The older pair, Cleveland Edwards, 19, and Brandon Lee, 18, both of Hardeeville, were taken to Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, where they were treated and released.
The third, a 16-year-old, was shot in the head and hurt far more; he remained in critical condition at the hospital Sunday afternoon, according to a police press release. He's a juvenile, so they didn't release his name.
The suspects remain at large. They "may have been driving a white Pontiac-type vehicle and are described as black males between the ages of 18 and 23 years old," according to a press release Sunday from Trinity Funk, Police Chief David McAllister's executive assistant. The release did not say how many suspects were in the car.
McAllister is on vacation and could not be reached for comment.
Funk asks that anyone with information on the shootings call the BPD's Det. Jason Pontz at 540-4162.
