Statement from school district about Superintendent Sanford
Here is the complete statement about Dr. Delacy Sanford and the Jasper County school board mutually agreeing to have Sanford provide professional consulting:
In its meeting Monday evening, the Jasper County Board of Education and Dr. Delacy W. Sanford mutually agreed that effective July 6, 2009, Dr. Sanford will provide professional consulting services to the Jasper Board and District personnel as may be requested for a dollar amount not to exceed Dr. Sanford's current contractual salary.
As stated, these arrangements were mutually agreed-upon by the parties as being in the best interest of the Jasper District. Dr. Sanford has expressed a desire to spend more time with his family in Georgia and not continue as superintendent beyond the term of his present contract.
The Jasper County Board of Education and Dr. Sanford have amiably agreed upon these arrangements, which they believe are in their mutual best interests and the best interests of the Jasper community.
The Jasper Board formally expresses its appreciation to Dr. Sanford for his past services to the District. It looks forward to working with him in his new role and wishes him well in future work.
The Board Chair will announce the District's transition plans on Monday, July 6, 2009.
A special meeting of the Jasper County Board of Education will be scheduled in July.

Professional consulting;
Professional consulting; more time with the family; give me a break! The entire school board should tender their resignations; the state should take over all services rendered in Jasper County.
Jasper County is the armpit of South Carolina. Its school board members are consistent with the rest of the county’s elected officials. You can expect confusion, drama, mediocrity, and too often, malfeasance in their leadership, or the lack thereof. But in reality, anybody who comes to Jasper County thinking they can make a positive difference is mistaken. Mr. Sanford you were mistaken. This has been a bad month to be a Sanford. Pun intended. Who would want this job anyway? And why in the world is the salary for the superintendent in this county $130,000 a year? This is Jasper County; not Beaufort County; the state’s armpit; the sorry, backwards, race based entity that it is. Nearly every high ranking official would never, could ever, hold, or get the position they have if they were in a county with substance, with professionalism, and with educated, objective voters.

Parents of Jasper County should really consider revamping the school board. We always end up with the same people with the same mind set. I honestly believe until we do something to change this, our children will always be short changed. Our children are paying the price when the schools are graded by having them take the test. If the children is passing the test the school district gets the grade. The district have employees making fifty thousand dollars to answer the phone (and who knows what else). We need a Superintendent who cares about the children. Give our children books to bring home in order to do their homework. Teachers expect our children to pass a test or do homework without the book to study. You complain as a parent they hand you a computer disk to study by which never works. Not only does it not work, what about the families that does not have a computer? PTA what a joke! I have not been to one in years and it was not about raising money. Sure raise money put it towards books so our children will not have to share books in class and none to bring home. Teachers are not present to speak to parents, which should be mandatory. Put flyers in the mail to notify parents of meetings, whatever it takes. We need younger more up to date parents on the school board. Take out the foreign teachers if they can't speak english good enough for the children to understand what they are teaching. Our children get these teachers, go to the next grade without learning that subject. It's to many foreign teachers in high school and that's when our children earn credits and getting ready for the exit exam. Parents wake up use your voices to support our children.
