Ridgeland Police

Maybe if we suported our Law Enforcement more and let them do there job with out so much bad mouthing, we would be able to keep a safe friendly community. we probly wouldn't try a tell our dentist how to pull our teeth. would we realy want to deal with the stuff they deal with? Next time you want to know why the Police did what they did, ask them, they probably would be happy to explaine it.

Ridgeland Police Department Built on Racial Discrimination

Why support a police force that is built on racial discrimination. The Cheif is supporting these types of things from his officers and this stuff needs to stop. I have filed a complaint with the US Department of Justice in reference to Ridgeland Police Excessive fines to be looked into and also for that Police officer for shooting at a young black male that was found not guilty in court. The child seat belt law in which ridgeland police are charging fines at $300 to $400 dollars in which needs to be stop also. I contact the public safety officer in reference to this and I was told that they cannot charge fines at high amounts as such. I also filed a complaint against an officer who is targeting black people everyday he works. I will do one thing for Jasper County and that is stop Ridgeland Police Officers from tasering innocent people, searches that are not done by the law and etc. We all need to think back and ask ourselves what did Ridgeland Police did with the drugs and that money that was collected during that big drug bust on I-95 where is it. This is public information and it should be annouced. And for everyone that gets on these blogs and agree with Ridgeland Police wake up and stop because wrong is wrong. Remember this you can do what you want to us black people here but oneday you will answer for your actions.

Really?!

More importantly - have you looked into the fact that the child should have been in a car seat and/or seat belt?  I've seen an infant that was slung through a glass window into trees - is this fair?  Furthermore, all you have to do is go on your court date, show that you have purchased the car seat and the fine will be dropped.  Instead of all of the accusations, look for some solutions!

Have you given Law Enforcement Officers a reason to pull you over?  Have you broken the law?  I have, RPD pulled me over, I was not treated unfairly, nor did I have an attitude with the officer - I, in fact was guilty!!  I was speeding and was in the wrong - do I deserve preferential treatment - NO!  Have you ever had to put yourself in a situation where your life was on the line, if so, were you armed?  Has somesome ever threatened you - if so, what did you choose to do about it?

If you get online and seach about the drug money - it has to stay in a fund for a certain length of time before it can ever be touched.  Negative attitude often bring negative results and I haven't seen anything but negative out of you!  Rest assured, I have NO affiliation with RPD, but I do stand behind ANY Law Enforcement Agency that protects our rights because as a citizen that is not concerned with COLOR and/or RACE (you're leaving our the Hispanics) like you are - I'm sick and tired of the poor me's that expect things to be handed to them or for the law to turn their head because they feel it's owed to them.

You're absolutely correct WRONG IS WRONG and you expecting different rights than everyone else is plain and simple WRONG!

Ridgeland PD

Hey, there is no requirement to say yes sir to an officer; there is no requirement to be nice to them when they pull you over. And you can disagree and ask questions. That should have nothing to do with the enforcement choices the police officers make. Anyone who knows anything about Ridgeland knows that indeed the town has a squalid history with race relations in this community. For example, Ridgeland has had chances to hire qualified black police chiefs in the past and always end up choosing not to, and instead employing uneducated, good ole boy chiefs, with a cowboy, highway patrol, drug enforcement mentality. The town plays the race card. That is just the way it is, and has been for quite sometime in Ridgeland; heck Hardeeville too.

DEMAND GOOD LAW ENFORCEMENT What a joke.

DON WOODS

Give me a break. I agree to disagree with APPLICANT. I always read his comments and agree with most of them. He states that Ridgeland has a squalid history with race relations. My God,Jasper County has a squalid history with race relations-on both sides. If Moses came back and ran for Sheriff,he could not get elected in Jasper County. Jasper County has some of the highest crime in SOUTH CAROLINA and who cares? Ridgeland hires the uneducated? You want to give an IQ exam to all the Sheriff's deputies? What is wrong with good ole boys? Better than the bad ole boys. What is wrong with cowboys? They worked. Drug enforcement mentality? What a shame-let the drugs get to our 10 and 11 year old kids-as long as somebody is making a profit-right? What race card? Where is it? I want to see it. I guess that implies racism. What a joke. There are just as many or more black racist in Jasper County as there are white racist. Always has been and still is. It is not 2010 in Jasper County. It is 1810. Ridgeland is making an effort to control and reduce crime. If you don't do the crime-you won't do the time. Jasper, including Ridgeland and Hardeeville, has a ton of crime. Who is doing anything about it? Definitely not the County. The most unjust thing that could happen is that the Chief in Ridgeland changes the way he does his job because some feelings have been hurt. Who cares? For me,give me a good ole boy wearing a cowboy hat who hates drugs as much as I do and make sure his guns are loaded and he is not scared to enforce the law. If they want to stare at me-stare. If they want to pull me over for weaving-pull me over. I encourage all the people in Ridgeland to take the time to thank the chief and his officers for the job they are trying to do. Don't worry about the threats of a few-they just pouting. Go live in the county and see where you are more apt to be a victim. You want racism. The most qualifed law enforcement official in the WORLD could not be elected in Jasper County if he is white. That is racism. Have a great day and may God Bless All.

More on Jasper County Law Enforcement

I cannot argue too much with your rebuttal Mr. Woods. But, Don, in regards to writing about the internal acquiescence to not hire a black police chief by Ridgeland in the past, I have personal knowledge that this has happened in the past. I acknowledge that the greatest example of malfeasance and incompetence in law enforcement in South Carolina is displayed on a daily basis at the county level by the sheriff’s office. I have said in the past that Colin Powell could not get elected sheriff of Jasper County if he ran in this county as a republican. I said previously that Sheriff Jenkins was the heir apparent to be sheriff in Jasper County regardless of his abilities and lack of professional background because he has the personal qualities Jasper voters are attracted to: he is local, he is black, he is a preacher, and a democrat. That can’t be beat; even if the county is swarming with crime and vexed by fiscal negligence. Both sides, black and white, are guilty of seeing race and phony political party allegiance, before they see the true qualities of people they choose to lead and govern in Jasper County. In closing, these forums allow people like you and me to voice our concerns, opinions, and facts as we see them. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. I appreciate you keeping it civil.

APPLICANT MAKES SENSE

DON WOODS

Another great article and I agree with you 100%. Right and wrong don't know a particular color. Correct behavior is not limited to skin color.  Have a great day and keep it up. God Bless.

Leave RPD alone!!!!!

For starters the main problem that Jasper County have is that it is hard for the community to be safe, meaning that everyone in this county is family.  Therefore it makes it hard for the hard working cops in this county to keep the crime down due to the fact that the community is helping the criminals.  I was on my porch one day when I saw a deputy running down this suspect.  The deputy must of lost sight of the guy, but in reality he didnt.  Someone opened their back door and let the guy in their house.  I think that everyone should lay off of Ridgeland Police Department.  Those guys go out there and they work. I have never had a problem with any of them whenever I have gotten pulled over by them.  The main ones that are complaining are the criminals and their ignorant families.  Personally I have had my doubts about the Sheriff, but lately he has been cleaning up this county.  I see deputies patrolling more and more through my neighborhood.  So frankly, I have nothing negative to say about the sheriff office. Those guys are getting things done just like Ridgeland Police Department.  I dont have a problem with Hardeeville, but I do have a problem with Middleton. But I do not believe in badmouthing severely online.  So back to my original point, I think that the agencies here in this county have been doing a great job, and if anything, I personally think that they need to shut down the drug house on Capt. Bill and the one in Mitchellville Road and Orange Grove Road.  Because I am tired of looking off of my porch and watch these drug dealers be really slick with selling their drugs!!!1

RPD and Sheriff's Dept.

I agree with part of what you said about RPD and Sheriff's Dept., in the fact they are trying to keep the crime rate down in the county. But if the community doesn't help them with the criminals, instead of assisting them with their crimes we will never have a community to be proud of.  The Sheriff himself should never been put in that position, but he was hired for being a preacher, and the color of his skin, not his ability to proform the position. He has good men working under him (thank goodness) or nothing would get accomplished. But have they arrested the ones who have breaking into homes in the county? Not that I know of. Also RPD is doing a good job, if you are breaking the law you pay the price. If you are in need of help they will assist you. So will the Deputies. Bottom line stop helping the criminals and help Law Enforcement!

Decrease Drug related crimes by over 90%

The best way to reduce the drug related crime is to target the addicts, not the dealers

First of all - everybody knows who the addicts are cause they are your sisters, brothers, couzins, aunts, uncles, mommas , daddies and even your husband or wife and KIDS

If we were at all serious about it, we would cooperate with law enforcement and have addicts arrested everytime under the influence or in possession of illegal drugs or involved in prescription drug fraud / thefts

Get real - we all know who they are, and they are the ones stealin or dealin - and they need HELP!

I say start catching the addicts and lock them down and put them in a work camp until they start ratting out the dealers - the bigger the snitch - the lower the sentence

Then keep them in work camps until they either get a snitch conviction and make then learn a trade while they go out on community service - habitat for humanity the stuff - screw up, 30 days in the hole

Daily Mandatory 12 step meetings or Church

Drug testing - test positive, into the hole for 90 days

Mandatory minimums for hard drug - Any amount of crack and meth and extasy 10 year minimums at state run work camps - make then raise their own food, chickens, corn, pole beans - you dont work, dont eat

Possession of a gun or commiting a felony while illegal drugs found in their systems - 20 years no parole

and no tv, just hundreds of bibles

Engage all faith based organizations to come in and preach the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ around the clock - allow convicts out on work details to clean church properties

The current system of probation and paroles is useless to helping the junkies - except that it employs the nice officers that run that part of the system - but all they do is wait for the recidivists to come back, that why they can just file the papers once

And after your 3rd arrest - well,,,they better know Pablos Escobars old number - cause it looks like its a long long time on the farm knitting skully hats
