In responce to applicant

I agree with applicant in who runs the sheriff's office, and its not the sheriff. But his inability to lead and direct his department has not helped at all. The one officer he let go had more experience and leadership than he did, or will ever have, so maybe thats why he let him go. You think you would keep all the experienced men you could to help to have a better run sheriff's office. But not this Chief Deputy or Sheriff they seem to be a threated by them.

More on the Sheriff's Office

I am going to restate that my thoughts and my opinions about the dismal state of affairs, low morale, and lack of leadership at the sheriff’s office have nothing to do with race. I am a black man. I am also a victim and someone with intimate knowledge of how spiteful the chief deputy is; and how insecure, in the dark, and hardhearted the sheriff is. Gregory Jenkins is so in over his abilities; he does not know and does not want to know whom he should REALLY fire. When I think about the outstanding and dedicated deputies of recent and of past times that have been run away from the sheriff’s office over the years that Hughes has been in power, I see some for sure who would have been excellent sheriffs. I also see many who would have been fine leaders, investigators, et cetera. Readers, citizens, and voters… is Jasper County really cursed as some believe? Although my primary concern and expertise is with law enforcement, it is not just the sheriff’s office that is sinking this county. Look at the people in the school district and the county government in general. When is all of this going to end?  Poor leadership at all levels will continue to hold this county way back.
