Mr JazzyBro's Weekly HS Football Picks: Week 4
Well, it's another Friday, which means it's time for some Jaguar(2-1) football once again. Last week, Ridgeland was able to defeat longtime rival Estill 26-22, a much closer game than what it sould have been, but the offense finally showed signs of life. Tonight, they will face a very tough athletic team in Battery Creek(1-2), who is hungry to get a win after losing 2 straight.
On a side note: Dear Ridgeland, please, please, please do something with the passing game. I mean, it's nothing wrong with passing the ball, but can we get some routes instead of just run up and hope to beat your defender, at the same time hope the QB sees the play and pass it at the right time, and maybe the ball will get there before there are 3 defenders around? Honestly, if we can get some quick slants and some curls in there, I think our offense will be much more explosive and productive. Now, back to our regularly scheduled preview:
Previous Meeting: Creek snapped its 28 game losing streak at Ridgeland, blasting the Jags 32-0.
Preview:
Last week, Ridgeland returned to its roots, by running the ball, and trying to get kids sent to the hospital with brutal hits. Ahh, the way football is supposed to be played. The offense was able to not only produce the yards, but also score, something that has yet to be consistent in this young season. The defense was able to contain Estill, but a few big plays and, yup you guessed it, penalties kept the Gators in the game. Tonight, the Jags travel to the Creek, and will face off against a dual-threat offense that can run it up, but also pass the ball consistently. Creek has already racked up 900+ yards on offense, but to every good there's a bad, and Creek's achilles heel this season has been the defense. Specifically, the run defense. Against region 5-AA Wade-Hampton, their defense allowed 313 total yards, 178 coming from the ground. For Ridgeland to win, they will have to run the ball and wear out Creek's defense, and try and keep Creek's offense on the sidelines as long as possible. Last week Ridgeland had no fumbles, and that, along with trying to not committ penalties, especially on offense, will be necessary to leave Beaufort with a W. Defensively, Rdigeland will have to pick its poison, as Creek can run and pass. Creek will also look to wear out Ridgeland's two-way starters. Now the verdict:
Doodle's Doodles says: Creek by 4
Massey Ratings says: Creek by 19
Mr. JazzyBro says: Creek by 14
