Mr. JazzyBro's Football Fix
Can you hear that? Yes, my friends, football time is finally here! And tonight marks the beginning of the Ridgeland jaguars' 2010 football season. Last year, Ridgeland exceeded most expectations, winning six games and finishing 2nd in region 5-AA, and hosting a playoff game. Although they lost that playoff game, the fact they reached the playoffs was success enough for a program that was lucky to win games previously. Now 2010 marks a new era for Ridgeland football, moving to a new region, but also expecting greatness. Before, winning 3-4 games was a success. Now, the expectation is set to continue the improvement of the program, and not only make the playoffs, but advance. Tonight, they will begin that journey against the Bluffton Bobcats. Let's go to the preview.......
Bluffton Bobcats (1-0) vs. Ridgeland Jaguars (0-0)
Previous Meeting: Ridgeland 13-9 Bluffton Aug. 28,2009
Preview;
Last season, Ridgeland "upset" the Bobcats in Bluffton to begin their season. With the traditional strong running game and smashmouth defense, Ridgeland opened their season with an unlikely win. This year, Ridgeland will look to repeat history, but will face a different Bluffton squad from last year. The Bobcats are coming off a 39-0 trashing of their county rivals, and with a new coach, are looking to change their ship as well. Bluffton held Hilton Head to -7 total yards, and ran at free will as well. Difference tonight? The Jaguars are coming back with a lot of experience. The breakout of Amlett last season solidifies the always strong running game, and Coach Kirkland wants to open up the playbook with some passing plays as well.
Last year, Ridgeland's achilles heel was its turnovers and penalties. The team has been working hard to try and prevent that from happening again this season. If Ridgeland can stay disciplined in those two areas, then expect a great season. But, first things first.
Tonight's pick: Ridgeland starts on the right foot, wins by 3
