Can anyone please tell me why a sheriff who asked for more officers, would ask two of his officers to resign by end of day, and with no explaination as to why?

I have a question, why are some of the Jasper County employees allow to bring their children to a public work place? I saw them today running around and yelling at the Aduitor's office. I don't feel it's very professional.

I agree with applicant in who runs the sheriff's office, and its not the sheriff. But his inability to lead and direct his department has not helped at all. The one officer he let go had more experience and leadership than he did, or will ever have, so maybe thats why he let him go. You think you would keep all the experienced men you could to help to have a better run sheriff's office. But not this Chief Deputy or Sheriff they seem to be a threated by them.

Jasper County Sheriff Gregory Jenkins said he doesn't know how long it's going to take, but believes new information his investigators recently received could very well lead to the arrest of all parties involved in the Pineland/Hardeeville shooting.
"What I can say is that we've got some new information that we've never had before," he said moments after a debriefing with his investigator. "We're following these great leads and hopefully they'll pay off to be great."

At today's Jasper County Council budget workshop, Sheriff Gregory Jenkins formally requested that next year's budget secure 12 new positions within his department -- all of which would be filled with officer's whose sole duty would be to patrol the county.
Jenkins informed council that his office currently employs 38 officers, including himself, with 17 of them serving patrol duties. The other 11 are spread throughout other divisions such as criminal investigations, victim witness program and narcotics investigations.

Just a reminder that Wednesday June 3 will be the budget workshop in which the Council decides on a resolution that will cut 21 positions within the county. Check back here for a list of positions/names after they are released.
Also, if anyone wants to speak out on the budget, Council asked that you try and make it to these budget workshop meetings. These meetings are designed specifically to talk only about the budget. At Monday's Council meeting, a crowd of people spoke during the public hearing and public comment time.

Jasper County Sheriff Gregory Jenkins confirmed that two more break-ins occurred Tuesday in the Robertville area.
According to Jenkins, two big-screen televisions and a laptop computer were among various items that were stolen from the homes.
A $5,000 reward still stands for anyone that is able to report information to the Sheriff's Office that results in the arrest and conviction of a person responsible for a recent string of break-ins.
More updates to come as police reports are finished and made available.
