I believe MRJAZZYBRO misunderstood my stance on education. I believe and support public education. Always have-always will. I was a strong opponent to the charter school push a few years ago. I believe that the people should be responsible for the education of children in a public venue. I also believe that the private schools in Jasper are doing a great job and I believe that the children in private schools are getting a better education than those in public schools.

Is anybody really surprised by the recent test scores? Really? I remember about 40 years ago,I was a substitute teacher at West Hardeeville. I quit because the principal told me I had to pass students. When I asked why,he simply said,if we fail all those that deserve to fail,we will wind up with 500 people in the 9th grade. I quit.

    My name is Don Woods. There have been a lot of blogs and comments lately about Joel O'Quinn and the Sheriff's Department. First,Joel,I don't know what happened and it is none of my business. The comments suggest an affair. I offer this to all the perfect people in Jasper County. If this is true and an affair was at the heart of the incident-stand up Joel and be shot. But let us always be fair. Everybody living in Jasper County-men and women-who have had an affair-stand up and be shot. Let us do more.

    Lately we have read about the schools,the sheriff and the back door. Talk is nice but it does nothing to solve the problems.

    This week I am urging the good people of Jasper County to write the Sun Times. I am asking them to express themselves in any way they want. If they believe that things are going in the wrong direction-I want them to say so. For so long,I have been fighting for the people of Jasper County. I need the help of others to say that things must change.

    I hope that this new service catches on. I think I will be using it quite a lot .  Actually for those who do not know-DONROCK852 is Don Woods. Don is my name. 852 were my baseball and football numbers in high school and ROCK is how I run. It is going to be another one of those years. We have a County Council that has gone on retreat to discuss ways of saving money. Think of that. I request that County Council make public how much the retreat cost the taxpayers of Jasper County. Will they do it-no. It is not a retreat-it is a mini vacation and I don't care what name they put on it.
