Close-knit Thomas Heyward girls are undefeated

First Byline:
Anthony Garzilli

Sydney Glassberg sprinted down the right wing as Ellie Bryan looked up.
Glassberg, a Thomas Heyward junior, has been one of the team's top scorers this season and the Rebels needed a basket late in the fourth quarter of last week's Coca-Cola Classic final against visiting Dorchester.
The Rebels held a one-point lead and Glassberg, who minutes earlier hit a 3-pointer and blocked a shot, was running hard to the hoop.
Bryan, a sophomore point guard and returning SCISA first-team all-region performer, had the ball near midcourt when she spotted Glassberg.

OPINION

Mitchell not silent about violence

Charles Mitchell said he's not discouraged. He said he's not going to stop being active in the community and won't stop organizing events.
Mitchell knows change takes time. Progress is often slow.
He's hopeful the county's violence will subside even though shootings and fear still persist even after he formed the Concerned Citizens of Jasper County and has hosted "Stop the Violence" rallies.
"I'm committed to doing it," Mitchell said.
