Jasper County Administrator Andrew Fulghum said Tuesday that David Jirousek, the county's planning and development director, resigned effective Jan. 17.
Fulghum did not offer any other comment.
Jirousek said Tuesday that he gave a handwritten signed resignation to Fulghum on Jan. 17, for the county's personnel files.
In Tuesday's statement, Jirousek noted that the work he's done for Jasper County has helped put the county in a better position for the future.

Nimmer pictures Sergeant Jasper Golf Course in Ridgeland. It opened in 1962 and spawned young locals who went on to play golf in college, including Nimmer's two sons.
