Two county residents have been charged by the Ridgeland Police Department in a May 8 incident that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old Ridgeland man.
According to the Ridgeland PD, Michael Hightower, 37, of 167 Walsh Drive, Apt. D1 in Hardeeville, was charged with murder in the death of Christopher Thomas, 20, of 21 Wilson Street in Ridgeland, after an attempted armed robbery on North Railroad Avenue last Wednesday night.
According to Deputy Coroner Jeremiah Vaigneur, Thomas died of stab wounds.

Upgrades at Jasper County's football stadium, originally planned to be completed by May 15, won't be ready until August because the project requires adjustments that building codes.
The changes will cost the Jasper County School District an extra $61,315.
According to M.B. Kahn Construction's Bob Sebire, the state's Department of Education's Office of School Facilities (OSF) has required the construction of eight additional restroom facilities, for a total of 16.
The district also needs to create three handicap parking spaces and two handicap accessible water fountains.
